NOOSA RIVER: The Luderick season is in full swing and the fishing platforms and rock walls at the river mouth continue to attract anglers keen to catch these feisty, vegetarian fish. Local father and son team Albert and John Cobb are absolute specialists at Luderick fishing and fierce competitors and tell us the last half of the run in tide and the top of the tide are best times at present. Flathead are also on the bite at the the river mouth, along with spectacular action where big tuna are smashing through bait schools. Mullet in numbers are roed up and schooled in the Frying Pan ready to do their ocean run, with the odd big Tailor amongst them. Trevally to 2kg and jewfish to 5kg are active along the ski run in Tewantin, while after dark around Noosa Sound there are tarpon, Mangrove Jack and trevally chasing prawn lures and soft plastics. Cale cale trevally have been active in the Woods bays this week with some hot sessions after dark on soft plastics.

SURF BEACHES: Huge bream were thick in most of the gutters along the North Shore this week, anglers report 1.5kg to 2kg bream cast after cast. Flathead are also well spread along the gutters and in numbers along and well past Teewah. There has been some excellent fishing off the rocks at Double Island Point with quality trevally and jewfish going for live baits and the odd Tailor just north of the third cutting.

FRESHWATER: On the freshwater scene, the Borumba Dam bass, good size 45cm and 1.75kg are schooling in the main basin and responding to Blades, while the timbered areas and Kingham and Yabba Arms were fairly unproductive by comparison.
Anglers targeting Mangrove Jacks and bream in the upper reaches have reported the odd quality bass taking lures, please remember the closed season applies to wild bass in these waters until 31st August
