Fishing Report
General Yearly Summary

First Quarter January to March – This time of the year is pretty hot and humid being the Wet Season, but provides great fishing for Barramundi (please check for season closures), Mangrove Jacks, Grunter and Fingermark.

Second Quarter April to June – The freshwater run off begins to ease and the fishing becomes more consistent.  Again Barra, Mangrove Jack and Grunter are still on the bite as well as the reef species like Coral Trout, Red Throat Emperor and Nannygai.  As the cool weather begins in June the School Mackerel begin to show up inshore, keeping the Southern Tourists entertained for weeks.

Third Quarter July to September – This time of the year the local Marlin fisherman head offshore to catch the small blacks that wonder past this time of year.  During the colder months the Barramundi are not biting as well and other bread and butter species like Bream, Flathead and Whiting support the fishing addiction.

Fourth Quarter October to December -  The heat and humidity begins  to rise and all the Southern tourists pack up to head home after there annual 6 month stay at the local Van Parks.  The Barra respond well to the warmer water and the Spanish Mackerel school up around the offshore reefs to spawn.  The reef species are still biting at this time, although you must be made aware of reef closures this time of year to allow the reef species to spawn.
