QLD Fishing Report

Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:

Now that we are in the final month of the year, most anglers are looking to catch their seafood in the way off prawns, crabs and fish for the Christmas table. Reef fin-fish closures are done and dusted and by keeping away from the green zones (maps can be obtained from any tackle store no charge) it’s all go. Land based headland and rock wall fisherman are still enjoying the spoils of mackerel, tuna and trevally catches using pilchard bait. Given the right forecast next week, overnight trips to the shipping channel and inner reefs are the go so we can take advantage of the small tides while fishing in 15-50m of water. Trout, sweetlips, nannygai, emperors and mackerel will decorate any Christmas table. Inshore to the creeks and rivers, your targeted fish are flathead, grunter, mangrove jack, king salmon, whiting and bream over the shoals and sand flats in Reliance, front of Murray and Constant and Plane Ck. while Blackrock and the mouth of Saunders are best fished on half tide up because of the shallow entrance. Should we get rain prawn and crab those areas as well.I have a great fishing product for you to give all fisherman of any age especially when they have difficultly tying line to hooks, lures and swivels etc. Hook-Eze is a multi function tool that hides the hook but leaves to eyelet exposed to tie too. It’s fast, safe and easy to use and comes in two variations, smallest hooks up to 4/0 and 1/0 up to 8/0 size hooks. Selling between $10 and $20 makes a great stocking filler for Christmas. Check out the website www.hook-eze.com.au

Good luck
