QLD Fishing Report
Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:
Once again the bigger tides associated to the new moon will have anglers seeking spots out of the current flow and being the moon cycle that it is, offshore trout should be your target from Chauvel, Goble round to Southampton Reef. Inshore around the Southern Islands like Prudhoe and Knight, queenfish, tuna and mackerel made up most of the catches while trolling with surface and 2m diver lures. North and South Overfall also Charles Rock are producing queenfish while spinning with poppers or chrome slices. Closer to the North, Ingot Islet would be worth a look for queenies as well, don’t be surprised if the odd tuna or mackerel are first to the lure. We have had some well needed rain since last report, more over the back of Eungella, so it will be making its way to the coast as the weirs flow over, which has the creek anglers and crabbers raising their expectations. For the crabbers rain has been sufficient to get the crabs out of their holes moving around for a feed, much more and the pots will need to be set on the mudflats, while Murray, Constant and Landing Creek will be pot city, a few King Salmon have been taken on strip bait out the mouth of Murray once the pots have been set. Localised rain near the Dams will help your prospects for a Barra and Sooty Grunter as the water flows from the hills.
