QLD Fishing Report

Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:

Scattered showers continue to fall around the district which has the crabbers busy checking their pots with most having success which makes the effort worthwhile. Barras have responded well to current conditions along with the odd mangrove jack. The three bridges that span the Pioneer River has been popular for the lure fisherman especially using soft vibes while live mullet, prawn and herring have been used in the creek mouths and deeper holes upstream. Good fish round the 85cm to 1m have been taken in those areas up Murray Ck, Mathers and Reliance Ck. King salmon hitting the measuring boards at 70-80cm from Constant and Reliance Ck while using strip baits has added to the variety. As the tides build next week an offshore run out to Cocklemouth Island and Three Rocks is the place to soak a gar or ribbonfish bait under a float for Spanish mackerel. The next couple of days suit a reef fish, then with 6m tides around mid morning a late afternoon into the night will fish better on the smaller tides.

Good Luck.
