QLD Fishing Report

Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:

Officially two weeks to go for our winter season and then we are into spring and all the magic that brings. A few snapper are still being caught of Hay Point, Dalrymple Bay and Prudhoe Island while fishing with squid and pilchard bait. Since last weeks report we’ve had the best part of 20knots S/E so we’ve had to hide up the creeks where there’ve been grunter and flathead on the take. Small jerkbait soft plastic did the job on 50cm fish. Blue salmon on strip bait have been landed out the front of Murray and Constant while Reliance is where to find king salmon as the tides increase next week again on strip bait and yabbies. A night fish for whiting next week with the late afternoon low tides is the go using yabby bait. West of the Forgan Smith Bridge, McEwens and Sandy ck and Three Mile Beach between Carmila and Flaggy Rock. Anglers are still bagging spotty and the odd school mackerel of the bottom around the inshore Islands, this will only improve as spring approaches and as they work their way to the surface chasing bait.

Good Luck.
