QLD Fishing Report
Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:
Current conditions have the bait fisherman out to play, cast netting for mullet, herring and prawns. Live and strip bait have accounted for most estuary and creek species at the moment. Solid structures like the Hospital, Ron Camm, Forgan Smith Bridges are holding good numbers of barra, jacks and cod while fishing the start of the incoming and outgoing tide. Catches of prawn are still being made in the creeks not out the front while crabs are still moving around the flats. If you haven’t the means of getting your own bait luring the bottom structure with soft plastic vibes can get results. Glendower Point had produced fingermark along the deep holes while using squid bait. The local dams are fishing well for the barra, 10cm hard body lures in 5m depth are popular while the upper reaches of the Pioneer River past Marian and Mirani is where to find sooty grunter in 3m of water.
